Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Stir in the melted butter.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the cooled coffee. Stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts, if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from pan and let cool completely on a wire rack. Serve and enjoy!
